Choosing where to go for spring break can be a challenge—naturally, you want to pick a destination that will be fun for the whole family. A great way to figure out where to go is to tailor your trip to your family’s interests so that you can partake in a favorite hobby or activity together and make incredible memories along the way.

If you haven’t chosen your getaway yet, here are 10 spring break vacation ideas that are sure to inspire your trip planning.

For the family of adventurers

Tucson, AZ

Families who love the outdoors will have quite an adventure at Tanque Verde Ranch, which offers an authentic dude ranch experience within the Sonoran Desert. Located just 40 minutes from the Tucson airport, the ranch offers daily activities like horseback riding, fishing, mountain biking, tennis, yoga and more. If you have younger children, there’s a daily kids’ club for children ages 4-12 that includes horseback riding lessons, crafts and games. In addition to an on-site restaurant where you’ll have your meals and nightly movies for the kids, there’s also a pool for relaxing and a weekly cowboy cookout with live entertainment and dancing.

Legoland

With parks in California, Florida and New York (opening April 10), Legoland makes good on its mission to provide a family-centered experience that allows both kids and parents to have fun. Beyond the creative rides and immersive Lego experience, the hotels and parks both cater to families with kids ages 2-12 by hosting treasure quests and scavenger hunts that keep kids busy and engaged throughout their stay, staffing the pool with lifeguards and requiring life vests for younger kids so parents can relax, and providing a number of themed play structures for kids to explore as well as multiple areas throughout where kids can simply build with Legos. Even if your children are not all that into Legos, they will be amazed by their experience—and likely begging for bricks on the way out.

For the family of ocean—and animal—lovers

Destin–Fort Walton Beach, Florida

While Destin–Fort Walton Beach is known for its white sand beaches, it offers far more than just your typical resort vacation, especially when it comes to animals. If you love to be up close to sea creatures, you can snorkel or scuba dive to see the wonders of the reef. You can learn more in depth about ocean life at the nearby Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park on Oskaloosa Island, which offers close encounters with both dolphins and sharks. On your trip, you can even get up close to land animals at the Emerald Coast Zoo, which is just 45 minutes from Destin and provides multiple opportunities for animal encounters from feeding sloths and holding an alligator to playing with kangaroos. You can also surf, paddle board, Jet Ski and water-ski.

Jekyll Island, Georgia

Jekyll Island features plenty of opportunities to engage with animals in nature. At the Jekyll Island Club Resort, you can watch manatees and dolphins playing in the water right off the pier. Then visit the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, the state’s only sea turtle education and rehabilitation facility. You can also take a trip to nearby Shark Tooth Beach, which is known as a great place to search for shark teeth fossils during low tide. Kids will also love playing in the sand at Great Dunes Beach Park.

For the family of snow enthusiasts

Deer Valley, Utah

If your family is into skiing, Deer Valley is the place to go for spring break. This skiers-only resort is known for being very family friendly: The mountain caps the number of skiers allowed each day, preventing crowds. They also offer ski lessons to children as young as 3, so even your littlest snow bunnies can join in on the fun. On rest days, your family can enjoy dog sledding, snowshoeing or tubing at nearby Woodward Tubing Park in Park City.

Tahoe, California

The site of the 1960 winter Olympics, Palisades Tahoe (formerly known as Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows) is another great option for spring skiing. The two mountains offer 6,000 skiable acres and a free shuttle to go between resorts, making it easy for families to find the best runs for their interests and ability levels. There’s also a nearby tubing hill and multiple ice skating options, both indoor and outdoor.

For the family of foodies and culture mavens

Seattle

Seattle is well known for its food scene, from the iconic fresh seafood at Pike Place Market to being the site of the very first Starbucks. There’s also a number of top-rated restaurants for all ages to enjoy, like Situ Tacos, known for its crispy tacos and rotating selection of soups; Beecher’s, which claims to have the “World’s Best Mac & Cheese”; and Local Tide, which is famous for its crab rolls. For non-foodie fun, check out Woodland Park Zoo, one of the best zoos in the country; the Seattle Aquarium; or the incredible Artists at Play playground. Older kids will also love going to the top of the Space Needle and checking out fossils at The Burke Museum. You could also rent a Donut Boat on Lake Union and have a picnic lunch on the water.

Tulsa, Oklahoma

Tulsa is a newer foodie magnet, with a number of interesting and delicious restaurants popping up all over the city. Two local favorites are Queenie's, a bakery offering various cakes and sweets as well as breakfast fare like oatmeal pancakes and grits; and Mother Road Market, an expansive food hall located on the famed Route 66 with options to please every palate, including a number of kid-friendly options like barbecue and ice cream. In addition to food, there are several cultural hot spots to enjoy, including the Bob Dylan Center and the Tulsa Air and Space Museum. The city was known as the “Terra Cotta City” in the late 1920s, and you can take a self-guided tour to view what is still one of the largest collections of Art Deco architecture in the country.

Let's get started

For the family of sports fans

Canton, Ohio

Canton is home to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, a must-visit if you’re a fan of the game. The museum offers 83,000 square feet of football history and allows fans to dive deeper into their knowledge of the great players of the past. But there’s more to do in Canton and the surrounding area than this sports landmark. Milestone, a board game café and restaurant in downtown Canton, offers patrons the chance to play over 100 board games for just $5 for unlimited gameplay. You can also partake in indoor and outdoor go-karting at K1 Speed Canton and pretend that you’re Formula One race car drivers.

Los Angeles and Anaheim, California

If your family is into baseball, get tickets for the Dodgers home opener on March 27, 2025 (or check out one of the other home games that week) and schedule a tour of Dodger Stadium to learn more about the team’s history. You can also visit nearby family-friendly attractions: Depending on your family’s interests, see over 250 unique vehicles at the Peterson Automotive Museum, learn about the ice age at the La Brea Tar Pits, or marvel at the dinosaur skeletons at the Natural History Museum.

For even more sports, head south to watch the Anaheim Ducks hockey team take on the Rangers and the Bruins during spring break week. Down in Orange County, you can stay at family-friendly Great Wolf Lodge, which offers indoor and outdoor water parks, glow-in-the-dark mini golf and an arcade.
